Tecnatom Operations Suite

Tecnatom inaugurates its Monitoring Centre

noviembre 29, 2018

Tecnatom has inaugurated its new monitoring centre to provide monitoring and diagnostic services aimed at optimising the operation and maintenance of our client’s power plants.

What does Tecnatom’s Monitoring Centre provide?

New digital technology has allowed for the development of a series of continuous and remote monitoring processes that enhance a plant’s on-site operational and maintenance tasks, aiming to ensure excellent operation. The centre’s objective is to carry out this monitoring to provide analysis, diagnostics, reports and recommendations to help plants in their decision-making processes to improve efficiency and performance.

The operation of the centre can be underpinned with three mainstays:

  • The integration of information from various sources.
  • Its automatic analysis tools, that offers a transversal vision of plants to provide a solid and complete analysis.
  • It provides operation experts, who combine plant and process knowledge with their experience in the development and use of monitoring models and monitoring solutions.

The centre’s analysists support its various applications to supervise the facilities on a day-to-day basis, carrying out specific analysis and producing various frequent reports. When faced with any unexpected event, a detailed diagnostic and analysis is made, supported by simulators and in collaboration with the plants themselves.

The Monitoring Centre’s Capabilities

The monitoring centre integrates different thermal efficiency monitoring and optimisation tools (TecOS Solcep) and predictive model-based tools, that identify any deterioration or implications in the plant’s equipment. It also includes the applications that monitor the conditions of equipment and components, such as transformers, valves or pipe supports.

The information extracted from these tools is integrated into smart supervision interfaces that provide a vision of the fleet and identify any deviations.

Why is Tecnatom’s Monitoring Centre different?

Tecnatom’s background in simulation and control room design has provided our centre with some unique features:

  • The value of the simulators, which are used to try out various scenarios and validate the recommendations made.
  • The Human Factors Engineering (HFE) experience; this has given way to an ergonomic room and post aimed at reducing human error. In the centre there are three visualisation sources corresponding to different levels of information: the videowall that offers executive information and a space for collaborative work, a supervising monitor that offers a high-quality image of the plants’ statuses and interaction monitors that visualise in detail the applications, reports and graphs.
  • The advanced interfaces, designed online with the latest Human-Machine Interface (HMI) design trends, aim to reduce the cognitive load of users and favour situational awareness (easily recognising a fleet’s status). Within this framework, Tecnatom has designed a series of icons; Teclons, that offer synthetic and intuitive information that combines shapes, colours and more.

A Monitoring Centre that adapts to the needs of the client

Tecnatom’s monitoring centre is now a reality which, thanks to new digital technology, enhances and optimises the monitoring services that we offer to our clients. Both the design and work methods of the centre are flexible and scalable and can be easily adapted to the needs of each client. In addition, the wide range of analyst and expert knowledge, as well as architectural and technological versatility allow for the simple integration of external solutions in the centre.

Furthermore, the design experience and commissioning of our own Monitoring Centre means we are now able to also provide design and operation support to those clients who have their own centres.
